Caroline Owens is a senior from Greenville, North Carolina majoring in Anthropology with minors in Biology and English. For the past three years, Caroline has worked with Farmer Foodshare in a variety of realms working to alleviate food insecurity in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area and to establish a more sustainable and equitable food system. Carolina has managed Farmer Foodshare’s social media platforms, led cooking courses, worked on the Wholesale team, and has worked directly with their community partners at donation stations. This summer, Caroline received a Bonner grant that enabled her to continue her work with Farmer Foodshare. Carolina is looking forward to coordinating food education programs in Durham Public Schools, one of Farmer Foodshare’s latest Wholesale purchasers.
