The following post was written by Tiffany Turner, a rising junior in the Bonner Leader Program at the Campus Y who received a Bonner NC Summer of Service grant for her internship at TABLE; she also received a Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation summer fellowship.

Time has been flying by this summer and I have been taking on so many new tasks for TABLE! I can’t believe the summer is halfway done. I’ve been happy to take on different tasks to make the work of our staff just a little bit easier.

Here is an update on some of the different things that I have been working on lately…

Social Media

On social media, we have been pushing our Farm to TABLE campaign to raise $15,000. Farm to TABLE will allow TABLE to provide farm, fresh fruits and veggies to our kids in the Weekend Meal Backpack Program during the school year. We only have one more day left (as of June 30th) and we’re only $1,600, so that’s awesome!

TerraVita

I just began outreach with the help of other interns to many local businesses for our TerraVita auction that happens each year. Raising funds and collecting donations is a very difficult part of nonprofits. It takes emails, phone calls, and then some more emails and phone calls — sometimes to no avail. However, in one day I was able to already get one gift certificate. I’m excited that interest in our event has increased over the years and am looking forward to hearing back from other businesses soon.

Volunteering

On July 4th, I will be leading the volunteering table for TABLE at the Cardinal Track Club race — 4 on the Fourth! I am glad to be able to help TABLE out at this event. It’ll be an early morning for me, but as they say.. The early bird gets the worm!

RISE

If you’re in town during the month of July, you should go by RISE and purchase a TABLE donut (Gingered Peach Bullseye with Raspberry Glaze and Graham Cracker Crumble). The proceeds from the first 36 of these donuts sold every day will go to TABLE. Yum Yum Yum!
